Tarbiyah Program

The RISE Tarbiyah Program is a character education program that is weaved throughout our curriculum and daily practice. The program includes students, faculty, staff and parents.

We understand Tarbiyah as providing the student with the tools for lifelong Tazkiyah. Our job is not to craft the perfect individual, rather an individual who is able to embark on a lifelong journey of Tazkiyah, purification of faith and character.

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
[ الأعلى: 14]

“Success is surely achieved by him who purifies himself” [87:14]

We aim to instill in our students & community a God-consciousness, Rabaniyyah, that would allow them to lead a life of service to Allah, subhannahu wa ta’ala. Our students recognize that spiritual growth is something that people of all ages continue to go through by observing and recognizing developments in the adults around them. This modeling is a key component of our approach.

Launch

Launched with our inception in 2024, the early phase of our Trabiyah program started with the Student Profile & School Culture, sets of personal traits we aim to cultivate in our students & staff. Both staff and students received training introducing these traits, including role play and situational awareness. Students & staff were encouraged to deliberately target traits they would like to develop. Finally, a recognition system was implemented across the school community to encourage the expression of these traits.

The Future of Tarbiyah at RISE

The RISE Tarbiyah Program emphasizes reclaiming the spirit of Islamic education by prioritizing the development of adab (etiquette and character) alongside academic knowledge. Inspired by classical Islamic traditions, RISE integrates Tarbiyah into all aspects of school life through a multi-faceted approach involving students, teachers, and parents.

Students are taught character development via the IB curriculum, infused with the concept of Rabaniyyah—living with purpose and divine guidance—and through Social Emotional Learning rooted in the Quran and Sunnah. Teachers are guided in their own spiritual growth and trained in positive discipline informed by both Islamic principles and modern psychology. Recognizing parents as primary educators, RISE also supports them with community-building events and parenting workshops to help raise spiritually grounded and emotionally resilient Muslim children.
